Connecting to Samsung Galaxy through router?

by Memmaatre / August 25, 2011 11:59 PM PDT

I think I have done everything possible to solve this: My computer is wired to router (DIR-655) and my phone Samsung galaxy by wireless to same router. Router and phone acknowledge each other and phone receives an IP. But I cannot see the phone in explorer (as mass storage) or connect to KIES ...?

When phone is connected by USB cable to computer; Spotify, Kies and mass storage (USB) works perfect.

What is wrong?

And in stock form blocks such things. Could be something else but this is the most common.
Good luck!

Anyone tried this at home?

The router has been reset and through such forum I received the exact settings for this to work...

I therefore believe it has something to do with either some windows settings or the phone itself.

If someone have tried and failed or succeeded at this set-up - please let me know, both results would be nice to receive information on. Also two friends of mine have the exact same set-up on other hardware, with a HTC phone and other router...

While I have a HTC phone

The problem is that I wrote router software about a decade ago. What I find is that it's always something new and unless I see the system I can only guess it's the usual firewall issues. There's little else that can be wrong here except for a nagging thing about phones. They don't make good "servers" so incoming connections in android don't always work.

You may want to flip this around and browse shares from the phone or use what works. It's cheaper than having a guru tech visit.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
