Connecting to Netgear WGR614 v6

by hamlincheese / July 16, 2010 2:44 PM PDT

Hello. My wife is having problems connecting wirelessly to our Netgear WGR614 v6 router. The computer that she is using is a Toshiba running Vista. She was prompted for a password, but after entering it, she received a message saying that the computer couldn't connect. I am able to connect to the router using a Mac so there is no problem with the router itself. I've tried searching around for answer to "how to connect to Netgear WGR614 v6 router" but the results all seem to give instruction for how to setup the router, which we don't need to do. If someone knows how to connect, or knows where I can find a thread with this answer (I know there's one out there), I would really appreciate it. On a 1 to 10 scale, I am about a 3 when it comes to knowing how to fix computer stuff and what processes to take when setting/configuring computer stuff. Basically, I would need detailed instructions. Thanks a lot in advance!

Actually I've had to re-setup routers for this issue.

I've not only had to update the router firmware but start with the router defaults, let the SSID broadcast and use WPA PSK almost everytime. Sadly some think because it worked before that it can't be the router setup.

... the full and exact message. That may provide a clue.
