Connecting to computer running windows XP prof

by amoda1 / March 14, 2007 4:52 PM PDT

I have admin privileges to my machine but when someone tries to connect to it by typing either the computer name or the IP address
(\\computername or \\Ip). The user is forced to use the guest account. Moreover the Guest account is not highlighted. What can I change so that when any user connects to the windows XP machine he/she get a prompt where one can enter (existing account) username and password instead of being forced to use the guest account.

Is that wise?

What do you mean by "any user"?

What are you using to allow other users to connect to your computer?

Do you really want to allow other people admin rights on your system?

Net use?
by KenTheHandyMan / March 15, 2007 5:24 AM PDT

I know this message is a little old, but I figured I'd put this here for future reference.

You could use 'net use' with the /user switch to have them connect as an existing user on your system. You should create another user account that you intend to use for this purpose, that way you can manage them.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
