Connecting the Samsung HW-450 to PC using USB or Bluetooth?

Aug 24, 2014 4:54PM PDT

I'm trying to play music from my Toshiba Laptop (Windows 7 64-bit) iTunes library directly from the pc to the HW-E450. I've tried the Bluetooth connection but Windows 7 will not find the sound bar so I can't connect. I've tried using a USB cable from the pc to the HW-E450 but after a few minutes the sound bar displays "NO USB". I've used the same USB connection on the pc for other functions and it works fine. All the other input functions on the sound bar work fine. I've tried making all kinds of adjustments to the network sharing features of Windows 7, i.e. "Media Streaming", File Sharing, Network Discovery, etc. with absolutely no affect on either mode of communication. Do I need to use Allshare or Anynet for Bluetooth or USB to work with my pc? What am I not doing correctly?

Connecting the Samsung HW-E450 to PC using USB or Bluetooth?
Aug 25, 2014 4:21AM PDT

Thanks for the reply. I've followed the instructions given in the Users Manual and they don't allow me to achieve connection. Configuration: Toshiba L755-S5038 Satellite PC with Windows 7, 64-bit edition, Realtek RTL8188 Wireless LAN Adapter, HW-E450 Sound Bar, USB cable for USB connection, no cable for Bluetooth connection.

I left out what I read in the manual.

Partly to see if you read it. Now that we know USB is a dead end, I'd like to read from you about your Bluetooth connection method. Your first and second post are leaving out a very important term. I don't mind writing it here but if you don't know the term, that explains a lot.

Connecting the Samsung HW-E450 to PC using USB or Bluetooth
Aug 25, 2014 10:45AM PDT

The method I'm using to establish the Bluetooth connection is as follows:

Select "BT" from "SAT Source" menu on HW-E450. Insure display goes from "WAIT" to "READY".
Turn wireless adapter in PC to "ENABLED".
In "NETWORK AND SHARING " window, select "Change Advanced Sharing Settings". Enable "Network Discovery", "File Sharing", "Public Folder Sharing", and "Media Streaming" . Leave encryption setting at "128 Bit". Disable "Password Protection. Save settings.
Click "DEVICES and PRINTERS" option from PC "START" menu.
Click "ADD A DEVICE" on Printers and Devices window.
Window opens and states "WINDOWS IS SEARCHING FOR DEVICES".

At this point, Windows never finds the HW-E450 Bluetooth for me to select for adding to the network. I'm afraid I don't know what "term" you're referring to so for me to understand what you mean, you will have to elaborate.

That helped.
