connecting sony dcr-sr82 to computer running window vista

I am trying to install my Sony handy camcorder DCR-SR82 software on my computer (acer extensa 5620). The error message I am getting is "Cannot confirm a connection with the camera."

Did this computer come pre-installed with Vista?

Or did you upgrade the computer from Windows XP to Vista?

cannot install camcorder software onto computer.
