Connecting one computer as anothers keyboard???

Feb 17, 2006 10:24PM PST

Hi,

Is it possible in any way to connect computer1 with USB cable (and some kind of adapter maybe) to computer2 so that computer2 to think computer1 is a keyboard?

On computer1 I will have some kind of script or program to "type" on computer2.

Thanks!

KVM Switch

I am kind of confused what you are saying. But I think you want a KVM switch. I have one at the office and it works great, minus a slight mouse scroll problem. What it does is that it lets you use one monitor, one keyboard, and one mouse for two or more computers. I have to pressed Enter+Ctrl twice quickly to switch between the computers. Is that what you are looking for?

no

basicaly I want to have computer1 run a program and output a signal (maybe Serial Port signal) and that gets converted into USB keyboard signal for input to computer2

computer2 thinks you are typing on a keyboard and has no idea that infact it is controlled by another computer

yes, thank you BUT...

that might do the job

I also found this USB-335:

http://www.vetra.com/335Utext.html

In adition it has a built-in 2-port USB hub which is a nice bonus as I might need to attach additional keyboard and mouse.

Do you think this will do just as well?

The controlling computer does not have a Serial Port. Do you think that a USB---->Serial adapter will do just fine? (I was hoping for something that will accept USB to begin with)

Any idea what program I can use on the controlling computer to send the Serial Port codes out?
