Connecting more than 3 Monitors

Can one connect more than 3 or 4 monitors to a Macbook Pro, with each monitor running a different video?

I am working on an art project, and would like to have 12 different video?s running on 12 different monitors. Any idea?s of how to accomplish this is great.
p.s. I also have access to a PC
