connecting lg lcd tv to lg home theatre

Hi I have LG lcd tv and LG 5.1 dolby digital surround speakers.
TV has optical port and HDMI1/ DVI IN port.
DVD player also has optical and HDMI port.
It sounds great when i play DVD but would like to know how to connect them together to hear tv sound on home theatre.

This is where a Receiver comes in handy.

That way you have many sources to switch among. Without a receiver it gets much harder.

Read http://www.cnet.com/news/20-tvs-tested-which-sets-can-pass-surround-sound-to-a-sound-bar/ and you see LG models did not pass 5.1 so that's usually a dead end. Because why this is, is well discussed I'll stop here.

http://www.onkyousa.com/Products/prod_class.php?class=Receiver lists them. It's a device that steps in to solve what you are trying to do without.
