Question

Connecting LG LA6208 to pioneer 3D Sound System using ARC

Jul 15, 2013 11:38PM PDT

Hello all.

I just bought an LG tv and a Pioneer sound system.
When i test the sound system i hear noices, so that works.

I use an HDMI cable going from in the out of my sound system to the HDMI In 1 (ARC)

I set my system to ARC. I put arc enabled on (on my pioneer and on the LG).

I set my speaker settings to ARC option on the LG tv.

But i hear nothing

Can someone help me?

While I am an electronics designer and software author I can only share this tip from the field. I've seen it not work and out comes the optical cable.

There is the HDCP issue and there are plenty of issues and bugs in many devices. If you feel this should work and the maker is unresponsive and unwilling to answer (I'm not a rep for them) then why not return it as defective and keep shopping?

The HDCP issue is complex but one rule is known and has one known exception is that if a device can render/display sound or video then any pass through shall be standard definition or stereo.

That is the reason I find most things to fail. To explain the industry's bent to make this harder than it should be would take a long time.

same problem, please help

Hello,

I have the same TV (LG LA620Cool and I am trying to connect my Sony DN1030 AV receiver to it. Same problem - I already tried 3 different cables to make sure the problem is not there... But it never works. I use the ARC in (tv) and out (receiver). The settings of the receiver are correct, and in the LG TV I only change the sound source to use HDMI ARC. No luck - the TV shows "no signal" message when set on HDM input and no sound when watching cable TV.

Any help - highly appreciated!

Thanks,

Korina

It appears ARC does not work here.

Nice to catch it early so you can claim a warranty issue or just return it for what works. Remember ARC is not a sure thing. I've yet to find any maker explain why.

Answer
ARC No Longer Working
Sep 3, 2013 9:59AM PDT

Had the Samsung HW-F450 Soundbar working with ARC from my TV using the HDMI ARC connection for a couple of weeks and it quit a few days ago. Got the optical cable going now and that works but I miss the ARC connection as the TV remote recognized the Home Theatre and I could control the sound, can't with the optical connection. I called LG support and they were confused, said they'd call me back and that the issue may be due to the recent upgrade pushed which is 4.00.20. He will talk to the developers and get back to me. FYI -- LG Model is new 50LN5700-UH.
