Connecting Lava phone with WinXP

I used to be able to connect my Lava phone to my WinXP desktop and transfer files etc. Something changed and now when I connect my phone my system does not recognize the USB connection. any suggestions?

Too many causes.

Bad port, cable or driver issues. Try new cable first and all ports. Then treat it like you first did. Reinstall drivers and repeat how you set it up back then.

Remember that as XP and apps age they can roll over and die. This is well discussed (app death) so I'll stop here.

Thanks for helping out!
I tried all USB ports already.
Also tried many cables.
The phone (Lava Pixel 2) does not come with any drivers.
So I don't know why it worked before and does not work now.

I had to find them and install them. As time passes I find XP owners forget what they did and I have to hit up places like XDA forums to find the USB driver kit.
