Connecting Laptop to TV

Feb 10, 2009 1:52PM PST

Hi all

I have Lenovo N100 series laptop running Win XP professional edition and I want to connect it to my TV.

I have 7-pin S-video cable too.But when I connect my laptop to TV, nothing happens.

I have tried changing resolutions, pressing fn key + everything. But nothing works.....

I have also searched for TV in Device devices in system properties(control panel), but it shows only Notebook in display devices.

What seems to be the problem, does the TV need to be compatible with laptop.

help me out with this ........

hitesh

You need

You need a laptop capable of TV-out over S-Video, and it's really not worth the bother. Older analog TVs don't have the resolution to display computer output well (they have a fixed resolution of about 720x480 and it's interlaced) and S-Video doesn't have the bandwidth for more than 567i, so it's kind of pointless to connect anything with it to HD TVs except maybe game consoles.

Until you get a TV and laptop capable of VGA or HDMI input and output respectively, trust me, this idea isn't worth it.

S-video . . .

needs to be enabled. Right click the desktop, choose Properties. Under Settings, Advanced, search around for the option to turn on the S-video.

Also, you should have a Levono Configuration that will enable this.
