a few thoughts...

dapro911,

I?m pretty familiar with connecting to our television sets. Are you connecting using a 15-pin VGA connector to 15-pin VGA connector?

When you toggle your laptop (Dells, for instance use Function-F7 and Function-F8 to toggle the video card output to transmit the signal to the 15-pin out) does either the monitor or tv flash, flicker or give you any kind of indication that a signal is trying to be processed?

I might also suggest checking to see if you have an updated video driver available for your laptop. I?d also suggest that you set your resolution on lower settings and work your way up, rather than higher settings and working your way down.

Let me know!

let's keep trying...

dapro911,

Well, let?s keep going at it.

With the computer and LN-T4665 (is that your exact model number?) BOTH turned off, hook up the 15pin to both the computer and the HDTV. Turn on the TV, go through your settings, and go to the PC input. Once you?re there, turn on your computer and watch the screen.

Often times, computers aren?t set to detect new VGA inputs after the computer is already on because they?re not always plug-and-play enabled, so making your TV available as an available output during the POST (Power On Self Test) may prompt your computer to detect a new device, and look for a necessary driver to install.

If not, what do you see on the TV screen as it starts up? Is there any flickering?

Also, a brief spec outline of your computer would be helpful to know as well.

Yours,

Mr. Samsung

A few more ideas.
Aug 30, 2008 5:01PM PDT

dapro911,

Yikes. I was hoping this would solve it.

Is it possible to try another computer on the TV, or another TV with the computer? I hate to ask you to do the footwork, but I?m running out of ideas. At least maybe we can isolate the issue to see if it?s the VGA connector on your computer that doesn?t work, or the input for the television that doesn?t work.

If you change your video card to use the panel as a secondary screen, try that and see if you can even get your desktop extended to view any sort of picture.

Optimum output setting from your computer would actually be 1920x1080 at 60Hz.

Regards,

Mr. Samsung

CNET HITS THE BIG SCREEN.... haha..
Sep 9, 2008 2:13PM PDT

dapro911,

Fantastic! How does C|Net look on the big screen? 

Do you know if it was a general driver in Vista, part of an upgrade, an online patch or if it was a specific one for your video card? I?ve seen this issue a few times, and any information you have to help me research this would be awesome. I know of one user who could use the information.

Thanks for your patience, and for letting us know if you can.

Same problem Samsung R40plus Laptop and Samsung LE32 LCD TV!
Feb 28, 2009 4:08PM PST

Hi

I have the same PC-to-TV problem ie no pc show on TV

There appear to be no Software updates - I have latest Samsung and ATI Radeaon xpress 1250 drivers

I undrstand a full 15 pin cable may work - but I have loads of 14 pin ones - I guess it's the TV which needs a 15th pin - would a paper clip do or is it a voltage thing

also understand there's a possible 'Plug-and-Play' issue - is there any way I can turn it off on Laptop ( apparently you can on the Sony Vario Laptop control center & it works)

it is weird that Samsung don't make their own equipment compatable or am I being just picky

many thanks for any guidance

R
