Connecting G3 IMac to a wireless internet network (PC)

Jun 2, 2005 8:49AM PDT

Can anybody please help me out in the simplest of terms as I am not familiar with wireless. My roommate has a PC connected to the cable modem. He has a USB wireless system (Netgear) that his old roommates had used in the past. The software he had is apparently not compatible with a Mac. Our computers are on different levels of a house and cannot be linked by wires. I have looked into getting an Airport card and other accessories but am thoroughly confused as to what works with what. Can anyone tell me EXACTLY what hardware I need for my computer and if I can use his Netgear USB system at all? Also, any other options you could provide would be greatly appreciated. (I am running OS X and the PC is running XP)
