Question

Connecting Chromecast to LG ts913es AVR

Apr 21, 2017 11:19AM PDT

am trying to connect my chromecast gen 2 to my surround sound as to not use up all the hdmi ports on my tv. My tv is an Insignia NS-55D440NA14 and my avr is an LG ts913es. Currently the chromecast is connected to an hdmi port on the tv and the avr has hdmi arc connected to the arc input on the tv. With this setup everything works correctly but I was hoping to plug the chromecast directly into the avr as there are additional inputs on it thus freeing up an hdmi input on my tv for another component. Any suggestions on how to make this work the way I want?

With the chromecast plugged directly into the avr, it does not work. With it connected to an hdmi port on the tv it does. I want it to work with the chromecast connected directly to the avr so that there is an open hdmi port on my tv for an additional component.

What they don't tell you

Is the Chromecast expects a video display. So I only expect the Chromecast to work if the TV is the selected output of the AVR. However some AVRs are incompatible but you could google that as well as call LG directly. Here I leave google and calls to you and try to work this as if you are trying something I know doesn't work.
