connecting blue ray dvd player without receiver

by gotoguy21 / November 16, 2008 12:06 AM PST

We purchased a Sony blue ray dvd player, now that we have it home we realized there is no connections in the back for our surround sound speakers. Our previous Samsung dvd player had all the connections in the back for the speakers and we did not have to use our receiver. Is there any way for us to hook this new blue ray dvd player without having to purchase a new home theater system?

connecting blue ray dvd......
by gotoguy21 / November 16, 2008 11:41 AM PST

I want the sound to come from the surround sound speakers not the TV.
I already have a receiver and subwoofer and I don't want/nor can I afford to go out and buy a whole new home stereo system just to use this dvd player. Is there no other option? Anyone out there have any ideas?

did you get the 350 or 550?

if you have the 350 just run a toslink from the bluray player to the reciever... if you got the 550 run the 5.1 analog outs to the reciever so you can get HD audio

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
