Question

Connecting audio headphones to my LG TV

I am attempting to setup my audio headphones to my LG TV's digital optical port. I have connected the optical cable to my 3.5mm cable with an adapter. I am trying to set this up so sound will simultaneously come out of the TV's internal speakers and through the headset. I have set my UH6350 TV's Sound Out setting to the setting that allows for the internal speaker and audio out at the same time using the optical port. No sound is coming through the headset. Do I need something else to make this work?

Thank you in advance
Donnelld

Clarification Request
Links please.

Let's see that lg.com link to the manual that shows this feature. Almost all models don't allow this due to inherent audio delays. When they allowed this, the consumers complained about the audio sync. So for now, all models seem to allow one or the other.

RE: Connecting audio headphones to my LG TV digital port

Hi, thank you for the quick response. I have a Recoton Fiber Optic Toslink to 3.5 mm adapter.

Thanks,

I have yet to see a (current) HDTV do this

You are SOL. None of the current crop of HDTVs can do simultaneous audio output.

Best 'end run' around this issue would be to utilize an AV receiver [digital optical cable out from the HDTV back to the digital optical input on the receiver] which could allow simultaneous audio outputs, including one to a headphone jack/adapter as such. So the 'net' result would be you hear the HDTV audio on the speakers and headphones connected to the AV receiver. YMMV.

I appreciate your answer. Looks like I am out of luck. Time to move on.

RE: Connecting audio headphones to my LG TV digital port

Thank you. Your answer using the AV receiver as a workaround may be my best bet.

That does not look like a converter to me.

You need a converter. What is coming out of the toslink is digital and your earphone use analog.

Exactly

And even with a 'converter', there still won't be simultaneous audio output from the built in speakers Sad

Thank you for your help. I may look into the converter as a solution.
