You will need to get an analog capture card.
This a basic card, you can get them with TV tuners or USB 2.0 at a higher cost, your choice. You install the card, install the software.
You connect the audio and video to the capture card ( or USB ) open Windows MM2 do some setup things and press play on the camera and the video will be on you PC.
The link below has a lot of good info to help you undersand the process. John
Hello, been trying to do some research on this matter but can't seem to find what I'm looking for....
I currently have a Dell 8400, Pentium 4 Processor 3GHz w HT Technology & 2MB cache. Memory: 1GB DDr2 SDRAM at 400 MHz. I'm trying to connect my analog Canon video camera (I believe it's a SE50)to my computer to do some editing. Unfortunately everytime I try to connect, the computer doesn't recognize it. I spoke w/ a Dell tech briefly & said I'd need to install a converter into my hardware at a hefty price & they don't currently offer it. He said I was better off just buying a digital camera. I didn't know if there were any other options for me. I wanted to do plenty of research before moving ahead w/ anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
