Question

Connecting a thin Client private network to the internet.

Oct 4, 2017 2:18AM PDT

Hi in my organization we just started using thin client. Now what i want to ask is how to connect the server which is part of the thin client private network and have a static ip address to the organization private internet network so that the server can have internet access. So that thin clients can still remotely login into the server privately and be able to access the internet.

I'd use an Ethernet cable. What is a "private internet network"?

The thin clients are are connected to a two switches using ethernet cable and then to a third switch using ethernet cable.the server is then connected to the third switch using ethernet cable.Static private ip addresses are given to hosts 192.168.x.x. The organization also has its own private network created by a router connected to the isp. Since the thin clients will just be logging on remotely to the server and use the apps etc on it, I don't want to assign static ip addresses from the organizations main private pool of ip addresses. i just want only the server to be able to connect to the internet and the thin clients will login and use it. But if i connect a cable to the third switch from the router and assign the server an ip from the main pool, the thin clients are not able to login since then the server will be on a diff network
