Question

Connected No Internet Only On Specific Android devices

May 31, 2018 10:07AM PDT

I have a Netgear ac 1200 Router. I have various devices connected to the internet with no issues such as a laptop, 2 cell phones, 2 tablets and a Ring Wired camera. However I have 5 Stuart Cams (Minion Cameras) all of which were connected via wi-fi but over a period of a few months when I have lost the internet due to weather issues one of more would not reconnect to the internet and I get the "Connected, No Internet" error msg. I have rebooted the modem, waited and rebooted the router to no avail. I have even deleted the cameras and re installed them but still get the same error msg when trying to connect to the internet. Again the problem is only with the Stuart Cams; everything else reconnects when internet comes back up. As you can imagine this is very frustrating, Please help.

Did you (on the Android devices) FORGET the WiFi connection that fails and try again by making a new connection?

Is the AC1200 Router Firmware current?

Yes

Your reply makes me think the issue is with

The cameras and not the Android devices.

So with that it's either a product bug or failure or let's try a thing.

Set the DNS you share over DHCP in the router to 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.1

Why? Many reasons. I find that ISP DNS often don't have the DNS entry for some makers. The two I provided seem to help when a device can get on the LAN but complains about Internet connections when everything else can get to the Internet.

Solved "Connected No Internet" specific to Stuart Cams
May 31, 2018 3:45PM PDT

Well after many frustrating weeks and scratching of the head I finally found out what the issue was and everything is back to normal. All cameras working. I had been using my Moto G phone (and previously Samsung phone) when this issue began. Today I tried to just think of it logically... I know it is not the modem, the router is working fine for all wi-fi devices except the Minion cams. It must be them or the PHONE. So I decided to reinstall the cams using one of my tablets instead of the phone and .... all reinstalled perfectly with no issues. Now I have no idea why it was the phone causing the issue but it was. So thanks for all your help on this forum; this one appears to be solved.

I can see a reason why on the phone.

I can't guess if the phone was on the cellular network's choice of DNS but there's that to sniff out.

I have the Moto G 5th gen and it's been spotless as to any bugs. Everything works super but I did opt for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model. Not that it matters.
