You don't tell what trouble, so it's difficult to say what you are doing wrong.
You can start with Start>Help and Support>Networks, which finally (and after more instructive reading) leads you to the Network Setup wizard.
Or use the Configuring your home network link from Grif Thomas' http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6121-0.html?forumID=45&threadID=43285&messageID=508741&tag=
If you get stuck, post again, but explain where you get stuck. The more information, the better we can help. It isn't really difficult.

Help!
I bought a new computer and want to pass everything on my old laptop to the new one. I bought the cross over cable to connect via ethernet. However I am having trouble configing the network so that I can actually pass files through one computer to another.
Could someone please walk me through this step by step - I would be very much obliged.
Thanks
Alice
