Question

connect laptop to tv?

Jun 26, 2011 1:10AM PDT

So this might be a silly question, but is it possible to connect my laptop to my tv through my dvd player? Both my laptop and dvd player have a HDMI connector, however, my tv is old and doesn't. Would that work or Any suggestions? Thanks! (ps. My laptop is a toshiba satellite and my tv is an old tube samsung and my dvd player is an element HDMI player.)

Not one DVD player I've found has a HDMI "input" so this is a dead end.

No make, model of the laptop so no further research here.

The only media components I know of that have that feature would be some A/V receivers that have an HDMI Input/output, but since your TV doesn't have HDMI, that would never work. Even if you put HDMI thru the receiver from your laptop, then component into your TV (providing your TV even has Component-In), wouldn't work because Component signals are Analog, whereas HDMI is all-digital. No conversion is possible either.
