definitions... Better for what?
The here and now? 10 years from now?
How are you expecting to store the video for the long term - or is this not important?
In the similar price range, pretty much all the camcorders will have similar video capabilities.
What happens AFTER you capture the video - that is where the differences become apparent.
Is editing of interest? Any movement of the video from camcorder to computer *could* be considered part of that process - whether you use a video editor or not.
The camcorders you are looking at all are AVCHD (MTS) file producers - can you environment deal with them, or were you aware of some of the challenges posed by this file type? Is upgrading necessary?
Before we point you to camcorders, we need to know what process flow, if any, you might be following.
So, I have been reading the reviews and I am more confused than ever. I just blame it on the baby zapping my brain cells. I am looking at the Canons (have been satisfied in the past) and not sure what will be best for me. We will be going on vacation soon so I have to decided fast.
Mainly shooting family stuff but want something that will grow with the baby (distance shots, indoor, outdoor). Not sure if a flash only or a flash/hard drive combo is better. I WANT a camera that is going to have quality images. I figure if I am going to spend the money, I want it to be a good all around camcorder.
Have looked at HF200, 20, HG20, HF11, HF10, etc. Honestly, it just has me confused as to what is the better camera.
Please help!
