Confused about digital camera to use for ebay items

Feb 18, 2006 6:15AM PST

The more I research the more confused I get.

I have a "freebie" digital camera from my marlboro miles - oregon scientific DS 6618 - which is horrible.

All I'm looking for is a camera that will take pictures for items I am selling on ebay.

Here's an example of a close up shot

and one at a short distance

This picture was taken with a Fujifilm FinePix A345 4.1 Megapixel Fuji A 345 but my friend says it eats up the AA or AAA batteries in about 20 minutes and had to buy a bunch of extras to work for her.

All I need is a camera that:

1. Takes clear pictures
2. The battery recharges on my computer
3. Doesn't use the AA or AAA batteries that die in 20 minutes.
4. The camera doesn't have to hold a lot of pictures.
5. Be able to upload the pics to my computer to put on ebay.
6. I don't need to print them.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks so much.

Look at Steve's Digicam forums for good suggestions. AA batteruies are not all the same. The NiMH last longer than Alkalines. You should be able to do what you want for

My usual recommendation

I use a Minolta Dimage x20 that I bought on ebay for $70.

The AA batteries certaily don't die in 20 min. I use an inexpensive recharger - not my computer.

I Supersize all my ebay pics after resizing them.

My pics are better than 99.9% of the pics you see on ebay.

It is great for close-up pics even though it has no macro setting.

Check out the Sony MVC-FD92. The picture for eBay item was taken with this camera. I use the Sony for all of my listings.
