You are right about the wired connection. Gamers learn this. I have almost given up that you can write about this. That is, folk seem to have to try WiFi and see if fail to understand.
If your WiFi is solid, that's good too.
The best is the laptop to the modem+router (Cisco). Any other setup show show a little more delay.
Since we can go 100 Meters on Ethernet why would we need the DIR 600?
main modem router - cisco DPC3825
bridge router - DIR-600
gaming laptop (Dota2) - connected to main via Ethernet cable, i turned off the wifi of cisco so that i have reliable ocnnection (assuming).
so my cisco main modem ports were these: lan1 - laptop; lan2 - dlink router (experiment only)
LAPTOP connected to cisco ONLY, dlink disconnected.
INGAME PING: 40-50ms (im okay with this)
Laptop and bridge router both connected to modem
INGAME PING: 40~3000ms (spiking and laggy)
Cisco (main) is located on my room upstairs, and dlink is installed downstairs for the family internet, i get super high ping when the dlink is connected and active. i dont want to pull out the dlink since (im not selfish?) they're using it (my cisco wifi is weak).
is/are there anyway that i can configure/modify the settings of the cisco modem to improve/stabilize my ingame ping back while both my laptop and the bridge router are connected to the modem?i dont want to play at midnight always so that i can solo the internet.
