computer wont recognize 2nd drive

by ariels_mommy / July 13, 2010 9:56 PM PDT

I have recently did a re format on my mom's computer. I had to wipe both our c and d drives (d was the back-up drive for storage) and now i can only find the c drive. I need assistance in getting the computer to recognize the d drive again as its needed to store pictures and music for my dad's band. If anyone could help me figure this out it would be appreciated. Thank you

Is this D drive a physical drive or a logical drive (on the C drive)?

In reply to: Question . . .

Its a complete seperate hard drive. The c is one physical unit and the d is a seperate physical unit. I have formatted before but never with 2 seperate drives. Im just kinda one of those learn as i go when it comes to computers. I am using windows xp pro and the d drive is only 40gb. Ive went into all parts of my system information i can think of and can't find it anywhere. Last time i formatted only the c drive and never touched d and it was all still there. My files and pics and all the drivers i moved over. Now that i wiped both drives i can't find the d drive

2. I've seen this happen with XP. XP will need that service pack before drives over 127GB are listed. So be sure to note the OS next time.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
