Jan 2, 2007 12:45PM PST

hey all, well heres my problem, my computer was acting really weird so i had to do a system recovery. after updating back to how i had it (ie install sp2,anti virus and firewall) i wanted to put my personal files back on the computer. but it wont read it at all.. its not even under the disk manager. i did the basics. made sure connection were good and looked in the bios to see if anything was up but nothing..it was working fine before, but now its does nothing.. my hard drive is a acomdata 60 gb @ 5400rpm..

my comp specs are
pent 4 @ 2.6ghz
512 ram (2 dimm)
xp sp2
Intel 865g chip set
hp pavilion hp340n

i have tried updating the drivers and still a no go..i tried using the front usb ports and the ones on the rear but still nothing..id appreciate any help

Does the ext hard disk work on other machines?

If not we have to decide what to do next. Some will move the hard disk into a new enclosure.

Oops, sorry, just reread your post.

Just because some USB memory stick works doesn't mean it's not the chipset driver issue. Sorry to see you not update that.
