by lemac1221 / August 24, 2005 7:16 AM PDT

I have a E machine t2692 when connecting power the only thing that happens is the (power) hard drive light flicks on and off (yellow) I have replaced the power supply, but am unsure what else it could be. Do you think the CPU is fried?

My eMachine is not powering up

I have an eMachine - I believe 2692. For a while it worked fine, then one day it just started shutting off. I located what I thought was the problem by unplugging everything in the surge protector that I had it plugged in to. Then it worked fine. After that it started to get progressivley worse to the point where it is now -- laying busted open on my living room floor.

I purchased a new power cord to see if maybe the cord was fried -- NOT. Now when i plug it up and try to power it on, it wont even stay on. I get the light for a few seconds and then it just shuts off. Could it be the motherboard, or does it sound like it's just the power supply?

What concerns me the most at this point is the harddrive. My unbacked up life is on there and I just don't know if it got burned up. Can you burn up your harddrive if the mother board fails? Any system tools I can purchase to run some diagnostic testing....HELP.....
