Is usually out of date video or directx drivers. Microsoft does NOT fetch or install such for you. Update those first.

ok. im having this problem with basically all DVD playing software, ie. windows media player, powerDVD, interactual, etc. so the problem is that i cant see the DVD playing, but i hear it. its like theres a screen between me and the video. i took a screenshot of it to try and show you.

thats my PowerDVD window. as you can see, theres a dark square centered in the middle of the window, but the edges are still visible. and in those edges, i can see the video playing. so basically its like the dark square is blocking my view.
