When I see this I have a spare CMOS BATTERY handy then I open the case to replace that. I also look around for the CMOS or PASSWORD RESET jumper to fix that password issue.
I can't be more specific since CISNET used some thousand boards so we'll have to stick to generic instructions that your average computer tech can use.
I was leaving my house for Thanksgiving and I would be gone for a week so I wanted to shut my computer down. It froze when I tried to shut it down so I just held the power button down until it turned off. I got back today, and when I turned it on, it went straight to a screen that said "Press F1 to start recovery 6 (..5..4..3..2..1)" then it went to a black screen started beeping (average 3 beeps per second).
I had to turn the computer off manually. I rebooted it and this time I pressed "F1." It said something like "this pc is protected by PC ANGEL"
I followed the on-screen instructions for the recovery process. When it was finished, it said to press "okay" (or "restart" i don't remember) to restart the computer into user mode (or something like that). So I clicked the button, and it shut my computer off. I turned it back on, and nothing had changed.
So I looked up AMI (my BIOS manufacturer) beep codes, but I found nothing on continuous beeping (everything had specific codes like "2 long, 8 short").
I checked my power supply, and all my pc connections (internally and externally) and everything was plugged in fine. So, I am sure that the problem is only a memory problem caused when I shut it down manually (it was apparently saving something when it froze), but I cannot get my computer to run.
It did have one screen before the "Press F1 to start recovery" message. It said "CISNET" in big blue (i think that is the name of my computer) and it said "press DEL to run setup."
When I tried that, It said "Enter CURRENT Password"
I had not put on a password so I tried every default password I could find. admin, bios, AMI, A.M.I., AMI_SW, AMI?SW, etc....
I don't even know if resetting the BIOS pass would even change anything.
So, if anyone has had a similar problem, or can think of any possible solutions, please let me know.
