Computer will not boot

Sep 5, 2010 4:51AM PDT

My computer will not boot. Fans all come on including the cpu. DVD drive lights up, but no HDD activity. I have cleared CMOS.This was done as when it started, it would run for about 8 seconds then shut down.
It probably started when I made small changes(CPU ratio 15.5 to 16) to the BIOS setup. When I did the save and exit, the dialog box came on and said that it was saving the changes, but then it just shut down and didn't load windows. Any ideas?

This mb has dual bios. Shouldn't resetting the cmos take care of this? How do I reset if it will not boot?
Thanks for the reply

You're right.

If clearing or reseting the BIOS fails and you have unplugged all things USB then it's time to ask the board supplier for the RMA.

RMA

Hey Bob,
Don't say that. I bought it used about a week ago. It worked fine till I entered the BIOS setup.I have also emailed Gigabytes tech supprt on the matter. It didn;t seem right after saving the bios that it would just shut down. When it started it went into bios recovery but said that HPA Bios not available. Then it retrieved from the backup. Neil

It looks like 1 of the memory was not seated tightly in.
Was able to start it!!!!!
Now I am looking at CPU-Z clock multiplier just dropped from 15.5 (normal) to 4. The core voltage has also dropped to .992 from 1.344v. It is oscillating from low to high with values in between, but more at 4 and .992. What is this maybe a loose connection?
