Just click here and follow the instructions for using the Recovery Console (method #2 or #3). Method #1 will also work, but it requires you to boot from another drive and browse/edit the corrupt one.
Hope this helps,
I have two removable hard disks - one with W2000 Pro and the other with W XP Home Edition. It is the W-XP hard drive that will not boot. I am using the W 2000 hard drive to send this message.
I have a disk that is supposed to start the computer, but when I insert it, I get the following message :
" Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <windows root>\system 32\hal.dll.
Please reinstall a copy of the above file."
How can I do this if the computer will not boot?
All help will be appreciated.
