Question

computer will not automatically go to sleep

Sep 28, 2011 2:30AM PDT

The power saving sleep mode does not automatically "kick in" as scheduled using the power option menu in the control panel. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit operating system.
The help topic suggests that obsolete drivers is a possible reason. All of my drivers are up to date. Any ideas??
Thank you, tphafner

Answer
How do you know the drivers are up to date?

And why would we do that? Wouldn't the maker of the laptop tell us which to use?

Also, did it ever work? With the stock drivers?

And there are many causes. Some are even innocuous like a wireless mouse USB thing.

drivers check

I checked the drivers in " Devices and Printer".
I did a "disk check" and it did the job.

Have never been reliable. While I have never found it to be trustworthy I have also seen it get it wrong so I don't use that.

Disk check is a good idea. Hope that cleared it up but usually you see messages about that on boot. I don't see any clue shared about that in the posts above.
