What you may not know about Microsoft is that when you install their OS, the drivers for motherboard, USB, video, audio, printer and such are not automagically fetched, installed and configured.
You get to do all that.
Gateway should have a set of drivers for that machine, plus you need to be sure the DMA is enabled.

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help. I have a Gateway P4 with Windows Me and dsl.
We were having a nightmare of error messages, so we re-installed windows and no more error messages, but the computer itself is very, very slow. Even trying to use my favorites is a pain as it is very jerky and slow. Internet is fine, just as fast as usual, but PSP8 is a nightmare. It's taking forever to load anything I try to work with it, and it lags and hangs and it ends up with "not responding". I never, ever had a problem with psp before the re-install, and I really want to get it working to make my wedding invites :banghead
Thanks Marie
