Question

Computer Updating

May 15, 2019 6:59AM PDT

My computer is updating every other day. Is this normal? I am thinking someone is putting some type of tracking on it. Is there anyway to stop the updates? I don't see anything about any new updates online.

Answer
For Windows 10 it's fairly normal.

Windows Defender can need daily updates to keep up with the threats so there's that and if an update fails it retries. Such retries are logged at Microsoft and I've found they work themselves out over time.

My action is to do nothing when I see this.

In such a case I look in the update history to see the details. What do you see?
