Computer titan tries to suppress biography. Gates?

Apr 26, 2005 12:10AM PDT

Nope! Steve Jobs. Doesn't Apple like us to think that they're the good guys?

John Wiley & Sons, a leading publisher of technology books, said Apple Computer has removed all its titles from the shelves of Apple stores in apparent retaliation for the upcoming publication of a biography of Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

The books disappeared from Apple stores last week after a month of increasingly contentious discussions about publication of the book, "iCon Steve Jobs: The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business," said author Jeffrey S. Young. The book, co-written with William L. Simon, offers an unflinching account of the rise, fall and rebirth of one of Silicon Valley's most charismatic figures.

I particularly liked this part;

The latest book retraces Jobs' early days as a computer maverick and chronicles his failure with NeXt. But it also documents his triumphant return to Apple, the successes of the iMac and iPod as well as his role in remaking animation through Pixar Animation Studios.

I heard a Pixar guru speak at a conference a few years back. Jobs had absolutely nothing to do with Pixar's success other than having bought the company from Speilberg. He didn't understand or push the technology until they had their first big hit. Then he took credit for it. He's also tried to take credit for the microcomputer revolution. He's a lot like Al 'I invented the internet' Gore, but MUCH MORE charismatic.

The emperor has no clothes.
