Question

Computer stops Video TDR Failure

Jul 19, 2016 9:00PM PDT

When the machine restarts, this is a message I get - "Video TDR failure..."
"Display driver stopped".

I got this computer a few years ago with Windows Vista on it. I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro, and then Microsoft was 'nice' enough to install Windows 10 Pro without me even asking for it...Isn't that special!

I ended up running the Intel Driver Update Utility; it came up with a "generic" driver update. When I clicked Install, it appeared to be installing, and then "Failure". Unknown error.

What do I need to do here?

Since it's a vista era machine give the innards a good cleaning with some canned air.

Visit the mobo maker or machine maker's site and get the latest drivers.

Visit the video card maker's site and get the latest driver.

New graphics card?
Aug 18, 2016 10:07AM PDT

It seems to be an integrated graphics.

HP doesn't have any driver updates for this

Would it benefit from a new standalone graphics card?

Can't find the machine under discussion. I will share my oldest 2006 Dell Inspiron with onboard graphics did just fine after a clean W10 install.

Let's hear some PC details.
