So I can't tell if there is a need for drivers or not. By your post I think you may have installed Window 7 but weren't told about all the lovely drivers we get to find.

I am guessing that you had no plan.

Let's read one about a Windows XP plan from HP at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7587_102-0.html?threadID=271360#2699006

You could ask HP what order to install the drivers after Windows 7 was installed but first this is an area that the makers must improve on or suffer an exodus of users. Why isn't this automatic after 2 decades or more?

Let's take the lead and I'll share I use this plan.

1. Install the OS.
2. Install the motherboard chipset drivers.
3. Install the audio drivers.
4. Then the video drivers.
5. And this is IMPORTANT for Windows 7. That Intel RAID controller item. I'm finding it to be non-optional.

Hope this gets you started.
