Question

Computer shuts down soon after I have logged in

Mar 18, 2018 11:39PM PDT

Here is my problem. I hade a few problem with my computer when i tried to install a new harddrive. First the computer could not find the harddrive. So i tried to fix it but that only mad i worse. Now i have reinstalled windows about 3 times. Windows is downloaded on a 240GB SSD and then i have 2 other drives, 1 other SSD 120Gb and then a normal harddrive with 4TB.

For the last 2 times i have installed windows the computer have crashed from between te moment i write my password in windows login and about 2 minits after i succeded to login. The screen starts to change color. Then the monitor says: No signal found. Then the computer gets bluescreen that says: video-TDR-failure. Then it restarts itself. Some time after te restart windows repair shows up.

Do you guys know what the problem could be?
The computer worked good just before the install of the new harddrive.

That's a problem either with the video card or the video driver. Are you sure you installed the right drivers after installing Windows 10?

I installed windows 8.1 on the SSD 240Gb. That disk was nlt the disk with windows before the shutdowns. Then it was the SSD 120GB. After installing windows 8.1 i cant do anything else but login before the computer shuts down. So i have not been able to install new driver uppdates...
Could it be that i have install windows 8.1 and that the computer cant handle it without uppdates on the other components ?

Does it stay on if you boot in Safe Mode? Then use that to install the drivers.
If it turns off in Safe Mode also, try booting into Linux. Any issues running that?

I will try to use safemode first when i get home. If that dose not work should i try to install window 8 instead. I have that one on a CD-disk if that might work better. Or i could try Linux.

Sorry that i cpuld not uppdate you until today. So i tried safemode on the computer and it woked fine. No problem at all. I tried to look for new uppdate in Computer Management but every thing has the newest uppdates it says. And when i try to restart te computer again to se if it wiuld work it freezes again with the bluescreen...
