Question

Computer shuts down for no reason but I can turn it on right

May 22, 2017 11:06PM PDT

Hello, so I've been playing League of Legends on my computer for some time and last year it would shut down for no reason and wouldn't turn back on for some time. My dad and I basically replaced every part in the computer one by one until we found what we thought was the problem. I finally replaced the power supply and we took out my old CD-ROM drive. Now, I've been playing League on max graphics and occasionally, the computer will just shut down while I'm loading the game, but it will let me turn the computer back on and load the game again as if nothing happened. I'm just frustrated and I'm really not sure what could be causing this issue. Is it the GPU? The CPU? I don't think my computer is overheating since it lets me turn it back on. Any help would be much appreciated. Btw, we replaced motherboard, reapplied thermal paste, replaced graphics card, blew out the air, etc. I don't believe we replaced my processor but anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Let's hear more about this PC.

Um

I'm not sure what you mean. My graphics card is Nvidia GTX 800 something? I'm not at home at the moment. My processor is Intel i-3. I forget the name of my motherboard, though not sure how that would help.

This is what Speccy will tell us.

The Nvidia 800 series is showing up dead at the shop counters now. When you get home, supply those three details and we can start.

Make and model of it all.

1) OS is Windows 10. Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 (this is another thing we replaced). 8GB of RAM. Motherboard is Asus. Graphics card is GeForce GTX 750 Ti.

2) CaseGears Eco-Element 650W High Efficiency PSU.

Sorry, I didn't see the other two things you asked me in the original post since I was using my phone.

Hard to find that PSU.
May 24, 2017 11:15AM PDT

Is it like this one? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817709016
That's not a great PSU. It has split +12V rails at 25A each so it could get into trouble.
Also, I can't tell how old the PSU seems to be from 2009 so for this discussion I'm calling it bad. You should shop for similar Watts but a single rail PSU.

This old PSU is a fine source of shutdown troubles.

Given the age take time to get the insides spotless clean, inspect all the fans that they work as new and then I'll get into the Web Speccy.

Be aware this is not to write "this is it" but what I would change and do.
BBL.

Not a nice PSU.

The age looks to work against it too. And same rating as the one I found.

Since your machine has cracks or trojans I have to wait till that's addressed.

Answer
Speccy reading. What I would do if mine.
May 24, 2017 11:21AM PDT

Again, the PSU is suspect due to reasons given and these are changes I would do if mine. I do not claim these will fix it.

1. Power Profile. Set your machine to never for each item till the machine is stable.

2. Delivery Optimization. Turn this off. Here's how:
https://www.howtogeek.com/224981/how-to-stop-windows-10-from-uploading-updates-to-other-pcs-over-the-internet/

3. Your machine has cracks and hacks. AutoKMS

END OF READING. This must be removed before I answer again. These trojans do the weirdest things and when I find them I stop and wait for these to be cleaned up. My choice folk. Some get upset over that but I found it's a waste of time to work on an cracked or infected PC.

Cracks and Trojans?

Sorry, I do not understand how my computer can have a virus on it. I have Adblock and I have reinstalled the OS on this computer several times. I don't go on sketchy websites. I just do not see how my computer can have viruses especially when my antivirus program didn't catch anything.

You can research AutoKMS
May 24, 2017 11:35AM PDT

Folk call it what they want but here, when it's there I stop and wait until it's cleared up. No reason to work an infected or cracked machine.

It's gone.
May 24, 2017 11:54AM PDT

I removed the AutoKms. Not sure why it was on there but it's no longer here. I am also not sure what you meant for the power profile either but I did what I could.

Then time for a new Web Speccy.

But this is all about what I would change. Since software items are free it's something I try while I wait for the tech to change iffy hardware.

I still see AutoKMS
May 24, 2017 3:32PM PDT

Is there any story about someone installing Windows for you?

I usually see this when the OS is cracked, pirated.

Seems like a Keygen to me Bob.

All bets are off on a system that is infected with it. You find yourself chasing ghosts so I don't work on a system with that issue until it's cleared up.

However the PSU is highly suspect here.

I guess that's that then. I'll talk to my dad and we'll go from there. Thank you for your time. I will figure this out eventually. You can close this thread. Or I can figure out how to do that.
