computer screen

Dec 14, 2003 3:09AM PST

for some reason my computer screen has a blue tint to it. sometimes it starts that way when i start my computer and other times my computer starts normally but then all of a sudden my computer screen gets a blue tint to it. it is the whole screen not just certain aspects. I have tried to adjust the knobs on the monitor but that doesn't help. i have check my system properties device manager and it says everything is fine. what could the problem be. i run windows 98 second edition.

If you look at the pins on the end of your monitor's plug you'll find that one or more of the pins are bent/loose. Trouble is, is that if you can't fix this you pretty much have to buy a whole new monitor, for what would otherwise probably be about a $5 part max. Pretty sweet deal if you happen to be in the monitor business wouldn't you say?

Cvinju,

Much like "yewanchors", I recommend swapping in a different monitor to see if that fixes the issue. Maybe a friend will loan you one just for the test. If a different monitor runs fine, you know the solution to your problem.

If that doesn't fix it, or even before testing, you probably should visit the video card manufacturer's website and download and install the most recent video driver. You can normally determine the manufacturer and type of video driver by entering the "Device Manager", then clicking on the + sign next to "Display Adapter", then click once on the specific device listed to highlight it, then click on the "Properties" button. When that loads, get the data from the "Drivers" tab.

Hope this helps.
