Computer running slow - wsappservice.exe

Apr 9, 2017 4:48AM PDT

My computers been running very slow. physical memory has been at 95% all because of wsappservice.exe. I can see it in resource monitor, looking at memory processes but nowhere else. I tried to end the process but it comes back. How do I remove it for good?

Thanks

(in addition)

also when I end the process the memory returns to 27% so I know its that. I've run antivirus, disk cleanup and says it doesnt need a disc defrag. just in case any of that helps.

While we're waiting for the Pro's
Apr 9, 2017 6:10AM PDT

let's get something out of the way and give us a Speccy so they can tell you what else is slowing your computer up.... This will eliminate a lot of questions by the Pro's as they will be answered by the Speccy

Is speccy a program I install?

Back to Wondershare. Almost.

The more I look into this, it looks like it's there bug to fix. I won't bore you or possible upset you here with priors. But it doesn't look good. If you are done with this app, wipe it out. Or as The Emperor said.

I uninstalled Drfone, still problems

Speccy reading.

1. First thing I notice is more than one protection system.
MBAM (nice) but also Avast. There may be others so for now, slim this down.

2. The CPU is a little hot.
Tell the forum how long it's been since the canned air was used on the vents.
Here I use the 1st of the month routine.

3. The machine is pretty old. Before we do the following, be sure your backups are current as it's always good practice. This is safe for good hardware. Ready?
CHKDSK /F all drives. (How is on the web but ask if you need clarifying.)

4. Head to Services in control panels and disable the Wondershare services just to be sure.

5. JAVA. Remove unless you know why it is installed.

6. DNS is fine. Always like to see it set to other than our router.

Thanks for your help.

1. MBAM is a trial I downloaded. I normally use Avast - should i just delete that and use full version MBAM?

2. Not sure what you mean by that, but giving it some air now just by lifting it off the table.. if thats what you mean...

3. I just created some restore points - is that good enough?

Working on 4,5,6.
Next Posting updated Speccy with wondershare file running .

Cheers

Can I just delete it? Or is it more complicated than that. It didn't come up on Revo.

2nd Speccy reading.

1. Read https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/643710/wondershare-waf-problem-urgent/ to see that Wondowshare is well, a wonder at times.

2. C:\Program Files (x86)\Wondershare\WAF\2.3.2.220\WsAppService.exe finds that you haven't uninstalled all Wondershare apps yet. If you can't do this with scans or uninstall, blow it up by deleting the Wondershare folder (use safe mode if need be.)

3. Running: Wondershare Application Framework Service
In my first reading I asked you to DISABLE the two Wondershare services. I have to ask you do this again.

From your reply to my first reading.
1. MBAM is a trial I downloaded. I normally use Avast - should i just delete that and use full version MBAM?
I'm reversing my answer, stay as you are on this item.

2. Not sure what you mean by that, but giving it some air now just by lifting it off the table.. if thats what you mean...
No, the canned air to the vents is a monthly exercise. 1st of the month so if you forget a month or two it won't matter. Canned air to the vent use has a lot of web pages and youtubes. The only thing to avoid is spinning fans to 10 thousand RPMs.

3. I just created some restore points - is that good enough?
Restore points do not backup our files or "what we can't lose."
That said, if you feel you are OK for backups, go ahead with chdksk /f on all drives. This removes a possible issue that pops up all too often.

Stuck on services & Disabling Wondershare
Apr 9, 2017 9:06PM PDT

3. In services, I can right click the 2 Wondershare applications but no 'disable' option. The only options I have are start, properties or help..

- Collapse -
Ok think i found it
Apr 9, 2017 9:08PM PDT

Okay found it under properties > startup type -changed it to disabled
- is that correct?

- Collapse -
If you can't remove it, disabling is next best thing.
Apr 9, 2017 10:30PM PDT

At this point with the wondershare disabled and deleted, any further steps I'd either be repeating or you need to go get a post on bleepingcomputer where they do custom scripts and more.

Here, I have to rely on seasoned Windows users. That is, folk that can use the native control panels.

Update
Apr 9, 2017 9:11PM PDT

2. Deleted the wondershare folder

3. Disabled wondershare service

4. I do want to back up my files, but I have to go get my external hard drive, so that will take some time as its at another location. I'll have to get back to you on the last course of action on the drives.
