Hi, I have a Dell XPS M1530, T8100 Dual Core with Windows Vista Home Premium, SP 1. When I tell the computer to hibernate, sleep, or shut down, it goes through the whole shut down process, screen turns off, and then I hear the computer turn over and it starts right back up. I then get a screen that says "Windows did not shut down properly" and asks me how I would like to start up the computer. This happens almost every time I shut down, and the only way to break the cycle is to force it to turn off by holding the power button.
At the advice of a Dell Technician who came out and replaced my motherboard (yet another problem, but that one's been fixed), I wiped everything and reinstalled Windows Vista. That seemed to fix the problem for about a week, but now it is right back to turning itself on after shut down. I'm incredibly frustrated with it, and of course Dell's phone support is no help. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
