We do see PCs crash on restarts and the monitor reports "going to sleep" or such but tell more about this PC.

I've experienced this caused by a scheduled (in task scheduler) update from Microsoft in the midst of the night. Usually it nicely shutdown when that was ready, but sometimes I woke up to see a blue screen doing nothing at all.
Changing scheduled frequency and time seems to have solved it.

Also check the wake settings in your BIOS. The PC can be woken up by activity from the modem.

My computer skills are limited. Can you give me a step by step process for changing scheduled frequency and time, and also for checking wake settings in Bios as indicated? Win 10
Thanks

For editing the scheduled programs, use TASK SCHEDULER. But since that has some 100 scheduled tasks, use EVENT VIEWER first to find out what happened when it woke up. That's necessary to find what task is was, if it was one, which of course isn't sure at all. It can very well be something else.
Use google to find out how to start them and what they do.

To edit the BIOS press the magic key early in the boot process. What that magic key is (escape, del, F2, and more) read the user manual or look if some message like "Press del to enter setup" on the screen. Then find the wake settings, set them as you want, and exit. If unsure, choose "exit without saving" and you won't damage anything.
