Question

Computer restarted randomly, blue screen, net.tcp issue?

Sep 24, 2017 9:54AM PDT

Hey so, my computer just restarted randomly with a blue screen, and an issue saying something went wrong the PC must restart while I was playing a game, and i’m not sure why?
I did a perfmon /report to get the diagnostics and it says "A service is reported as having an unexpected error code"
Under results Everything is passed besides, (System service checks which has failed). The issue (Net.Tcp Listener Adapter) has abnormally stopped system services, and it’s stopped. Not sure why, or if this is the actual issue even. It says resolution restart the service, and I‘ve restarted my pc multiple times, but it’s still there. Any help would be useful as this is the first time this has happened, and I‘ve been using my computer everyday for the last four years, and it’s still healthy!
Update:
Here's what it says.
Also apparently this is the only issue after scanning, would it be the reason why my PC restarted randomly, with the blue screen popping up?
Display Name: Net.Tcp Listener Adapter
Exit Code: 1068
Service Name: NetTcpActivator
Path: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4....
Service Code: 0
Started: False
State: Stopped

and this is under the error

Details: Service exited with code not equal to 0 or 1077
Resolution: Restart the service

Clarification Request
I think this is a TCP sharing service. And not stock.
Sep 24, 2017 10:35AM PDT

This is not usually required and not stock here.

https://www.google.ca/search?client=opera&q=Net.Tcp+Listener+Adapter+&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 finds priors with a few tests and advice.

1. Reset the stack.
Read https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/what-is-nettcp-listener-adapter-and-why-is-it/392c46ea-02c8-47a0-a6df-1b6c85dea25a?auth=1

2. Turn off that service (unless you know you need it).
http://www.blackviper.com/windows-services/net-tcp-listener-adapter/
"This service is not installed by default and should not be installed on a “home” system. You can add or remove this service by heading to:

Head to Start
Select Control Panel
Select Programs
Select Programs and Features
Select Turn Windows Features on or off"

Blue Screen/TCP
Sep 24, 2017 6:48PM PDT

Okay just to clarify, would this be the reason why my computer restarted? I don't want any more blue screens appearing, or interrupting me while I'm doing stuff. This is currently my PC at home, so if I don't need it nothing will happen when turned off correct? Do you know which one it would be under when selecting "Windows Features on or off"? as there are multiple options.

Also, I tried the Windows key and X restart and this is what it said when it said failed does that mean it failed? Or did it bypass it, not sure because it said access denied. If you need my PC specs let me know!

Last thing if I just leave it alone will it cause any major issues with my PC? Everything else looks good when scanning besides this one issue, which I've never scanned the Diagnostics before, so it could've been here before this whole Blue screen appearing. My computer has been working smooth since, but I'm afraid it'll just happen randomly again while I'm playing a game or something as I'm not quite sure the exact reason for it appearing. Thanks a lot for your help!

I can't answer. Why?

It's your PC and I can't guess why this service was enabled. It's not enabled on any PC in the office but you may have a reason. I'm just calling it out so you can reveal why it's installed.
