Question

Computer restart randomly

Mar 3, 2020 7:01PM PST

Hello.. I know this is an ultra common issue.. but I can't find a solution for my pc. My pc keeps restarting randomly while playing or a minute after stopped playing. Also after it restarts.. If I play any game it won't restart.. so it's rare.. I mean, restart 1st time.. then play again, and it won't restart anymore.
Tried: format and reinstall SO. Cleaning everything. Check event viewer.... but no luck, it keeps restarting randomly. I don't think is an overheat issue because I can play after 1st restart with no problems.. This is my pc. Any suggestion will help, thanks.

Answer
Awful way to share the report.

It leaves out all the other details so I'll share a little and stop.

1. With the Ryzen you always try their latest BIOS.
2. You ask the maker for the BIOS settings. I can't tell you since there are hundreds to thousands of boards and CPU combinations now.
3. If they can't resolve it you change the motherboard.

Yes it could be something else but you only shared the above and no detail about the PSU.

Thanks for the answer. I uploaded the speccy results to speccy servers.. but it was showing personal information, so instead I just uploaded some screenshots.. here's the snapshot I uploaded to a personal account
speccy share link. By the way my PSU is this.
Thanks!

Without the full speccy.

I have to step back from a reading. I respect your privacy and you understand that I use that to dig into a PC.
The PSU looks fine for this rig so for now I'm going with my first answer.

It looks just like others with that issue and you have your work cut out for you as noted above.

Quick questions....
Mar 4, 2020 3:46PM PST

Is this a self-build or off the shelf, branded computer? I once built my own computer setup in a mini-tower case and having it periodically turning off. I determined that the case was too closed up and there wasn't enough ventilation to cool down the computer in high usage. Have you determined that the heat is correctly dissipated with fans/vents?

@birdmantd yes it's a self build and the heat is correctly dissipated.. now is working fine, I think updating the bios did the trick Happy
@r.+proffitt Hi, I did the BIOS update on Saturday from F2 to F50a (through f20, f30 and f40) and it didn't restart since that, apparently it's fixed, thanks Grin

new fix

Hi, unfortunately after some days I had the same issue, it restarted again right after I stopped playing games... the good news is I managed to fixed, what I did:
- Change/clean the memory RAM locations (I have 4 slots and 2 memories, so I moved them to the empty slots)
- Remove/reinsert and clean the GPU slot.
- And the last thing I did and I think this fixed the issue.. I removed the microprocessor fan, cleaned and removed all the thermal paste (it was dry and "hard") added new thermal paste and assemble everything again. After this it is working.
What I think is.. after I stopped playing the cpu temperature went from very high to very low.. the thermal paste was dry and can't managed this abrupt change of temperatures so the micro shut down to prevent damage.
