Yes, it's possible to damage the motherboard OR the RAM module itself.. Try using one stick at a time, in the number 1 slot first. If that doesn't work, then try one at a time in the number 2 slot. Be sure the RAM "snaps" on the end are full open when starting to push the RAM down into the slot. If none of the options work, then it's possible the motherboard is damaged.
Hope this helps.
Gaming desktop: 650i motherboard. I had 2 x 2GB ram and wanted to put in 2 more sticks worth. I had to push hard to get the sticks in. The computer wouldn't display or boot following that. I put the old memory setup back in and now it displays, but randomly cuts off every 10-60 seconds like someone unplugged the computer. I've tried every arrangement of the ram to see if I damaged a slot, but its always the same thing. Can someone help me figure out whats wrong? Did I damage the motherboard when I shoved the ram stick in really firm?
Thank you in advance.
