Computer not recognized my second hard drive...

Hi, after my pc was up and running with a western digital hard drive in it, I decided to install a Maxtor as a second hd. After installing it was recognized but it is not coming up in My Compter. It says Local Disk (C: ) which is good. Than it says 31/2 FLoppy (A: ), CD-RW Drive (D: ) which are also both ok. But than it says DVD Drive (E: ) CD Drive which is bad. I dont have a DVD drive in that pc, any reason why it is not saying I have a second hard drive? I know that it is definatley plugged in right becasue I see it at start up. How do i get it to be recognized as a second drive? thanks
