Computer Monitor problems

Apr 15, 2005 3:33AM PDT

I have a Compaq 5017m LCD flat panel monitor. It will not stay on for any period of time. The screen goes black, although I can barely see the outline of what is suppose to be on the screen. And I can barely see my cursor moving around. When I turn it on it will stay on for about 2 seconds, then go off again. It never stays on for longer than that.

What could be the problem? Is it something I will have to get repair at the computer shop? IF so, estimated cost?

thank you!

How old is it? Is it still under warranty? LCDs have lamps behind the screen and lamps go bad. I don't know the cost. John

I actually bought it used (I bascially got it for free, gave $4 for it). I knew it wasnt working properly when I got it, I thought I could possibly get it fixed for a good price. I was just wondering if someone else had the same thing happen to theirs, and what the problem was....

I googled the problem, but couldnt find any info on exactly what my monitor is doing.

Is it wise to even get these repaired?
If not, I will just sell it on ebay as-is.

thanks!

Nobody has any thoughts on the monitor?

A bet, not a thought.

I bet repair exceeds replacement cost.
