Question

Computer Monitor or HD TV HELP PLEASE!

Jul 29, 2013 12:28PM PDT

I am building my first gaming RIG and i'm looking into either a TV or an actual monitor. I need a TV and a monitor, so I though "hey, why not just get a HD TV" .

Anyone have any thoughts? This is not a crazy gaming rig, I just play some small Dota type games. If a TV is alright can anyone give me any thoughts on what to look for? Any thing will help. Thanks.

While plasma is great it's image retention both short and long term makes it a non-starter. So why not a nice LED LCD display/TV?

Is there a big difference in LED/LCD? I don't know much about them so trying to see what would be best.

Well there is only LCD.

When you read LCD that's code for "the back light is compact fluorescent light tube."

LED LCD means it's the newer models.

Wait, couldn't you google that and leave the hard questions for the forums?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LED_display gives you a quick overview.

Look at size of those LED displays. They are HUGE. I doubt you want that.

I fear we are way off track here. And a sign the folk you shop with are true dispensers and don't know their products. Have we come so far that folk explode when asked to dig in a little?
