Computer Keyboard Error (39)

by Telamond / August 12, 2005 5:29 PM PDT

When I went online to surf the internet something weird happened. Every time I pressed a key on the keyboard, the whole computer would freeze up.

When I try to run the troubleshoot ("thingy") I get up that there's an error 39 on my keyboard and there's an white exclaimation mark to yellow background on my "system" window.

The keyboard has been working fine for three years now, could it be a virus? Or is there some kind of file missing?

I don't know much of computers, but I hope you can help me. I'm using Windows XP and it's one of those Dell computers.

scan for virus and ad ware.

next, maybe it's time to replace your keyboard. it might be going, so i would look at logitech or microsoft ones at your local bestbuy/circuit city.

do you have a spare keyboard? maybe try using that and see if the problem continues.

Check the driver.

Try this.
Check in Device Manager to see the status of the keyboard driver. Your driver may have been corrupted.
In Device Manager, click the plus sign beside the keyboard listing. Right click on your keyboard, select uninstall, then reboot the computer and let Windows install the driver.
Best of Luck

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
